Honduras 2024

The OpWalk Carolinas team of orthopedic surgeons, nurses, and support staff provided life-changing care by performing knee and hip replacements for patients suffering from chronic joint pain and limited mobility in Honduras. Many of the recipients had endured years of discomfort due to the lack of access to specialized surgical care. The team worked long hours in modest clinical settings, often with limited resources, but their dedication brought renewed hope and mobility to dozens of individuals who were previously unable to walk without pain or assistance.

In addition to the medical mission, the volunteers brought school supplies and baby clothes to support local families. Colorful backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and crayons were distributed to children eager to learn, while infant clothing and essentials were given to new mothers in need. These small but meaningful gestures helped strengthen the bond between the medical team and the community, creating a spirit of solidarity and compassion that extended beyond the operating room.
