Welcome to the OpWalk Carolinas Chapter

Operation Walk Carolinas is part of an all-volunteer medical
humanitarian organization that provides the gift of mobility through
life-changing joint replacement surgeries at no cost for those in need.

The work we do

Why Operation Walk?

In developing countries where people have little to no access to medical care, it can mean life with painful arthritis, in a wheelchair, or in a bed. In many cases, the inability to walk prohibits families from making a living.

Joint replacement surgeries allow patients to go back to work, help provide for their families, and have a richer quality of life. They can enable a grandmother to spend quality time with her grandchildren, a father to put a roof over his family’s head, or a mother to stand and hold her child.

OpWalk works alongside local medical staff for a common goal: to help restore the basic function of walking to those who cannot.

Our Services

Many patients in lesser-developed countries have no access to fund costly operations. Often times there are few trained
surgeons and/or access to implants and other medical devices. OpWalk Carolinas is changing that.

Surgical Procedures

OpWalk provides free surgical treatments for patients in Honduras, restoring the gift of walking.

OpWalk prioritizes rehabilitation training, removing the barrier that often affects patients in rural and remote areas.

Education & Training

OpWalk educates in-country orthopedic surgeons, nurses, physical therapists and other healthcare professionals on the most advanced treatments and surgical techniques for diseases of the hip and knee joints.

OpWalk leaves the unused medical supplies, walkers, crutches, etc. for the community and local hospital.

Taking care of one patient may not change the
world, but it changes the world for that one patient.
